Young Mums Group is a social support group for young mums (to 30
years of age) and their babies. It runs every Thursday morning
from 10am to 12pm.
WHAT HAPPENS AT YMG?
- Meet other young mums and their children
- Have morning tea together
- Kids can play together
- A Child Health Nurse, and the YWP Midwife and Youth Health
Worker attend the group.
- A Community worker from Centrelink attends the group weekly
to provide assistance around payments
- The YWP Midwife is available to provide support and information
around various issues eg. Breast feeding.
- Youth Health Worker is available to provide assistance with
other issues eg. Housing, relationships, etc.
On some occasions, workers from other services are invited along
to provide information for the group on particular topics.
Young women are encouraged to take responsibility for their own
transport, however YWP
may be able to assist mums for the first couple of weeks.
